TRANSITION TO SECONDARY SCHOOL
The transition from Year 6 into Year 7 is an exciting and important part of the final year of primary school for all students at Mandama Primary School. Our year 6 teachers and the staff at Mandama are here to make this process as easy as possible.
Students from Mandama Primary School transition to a broad range of Government and Non-Government secondary settings and our school regularly receives positive feedback from the secondary schools on the high level of preparation and prior knowledge that our graduating students carry with them once they leave.
We maintain strong links with our former students in the their secondary settings and feel immense pride when they return to perform for our students in their secondary school bands; come to speak to our students at assembly; assist with our sports days; achieve special awards and commendations; become student leadership positions or lead small group activities with our students in their school settings.

Year 7 Enrolment Process and 2025 Timeline for Government Secondary Schools:
All 2024 Year 6 students at Mandama PS will receive their Year 6 to Year 7 Transition packs to take home and give to their parents / carers by the end of the first week of Term 2. These packs contain very important information regarding applying for Year 7 placement at a Government Secondary School.
- The Application for Year 7 Placement form must be returned to Mandama Primary School in May 2024. This includes students who have accepted or are awaiting confirmation of enrolment at a non-government secondary school.
- This form is the only document that needs to be returned to school.
- Once this form is returned, we will submit these to the relevant secondary schools.
- We will then notify parents / carers of placement offers later in August 2024.
- Secondary Schools are unable to contact parents or students until after the above date.
- If any parent / carer needs any assistance completing this form or has any questions about year 6 to year 7 transition, please come and speak to your child’s year 6 teacher.
